The majority of people struggle with getting motivated. So here are some tips to help keep you motivated:
Set a goal that is both specific and achievable
Think about how the goal will fit into your life--how you will make it happen and how much time it will take to reach that goal
Break the goal up into smaller parts to make the tasks easier
Have support-tell your family and friends about your goal and encourage them to keep you motivated throughout
It is also hard to stay on track when it comes to goals. So here are some tips to help keep you on track:
Make the goal a part of your daily routine by using a journal or daily reminders
Positivity is very important--try instead of not trying at all
Mindfulness will keep you focused and relaxed
Joining a support group could be extremely effective
Reward yourself every time you complete a task and the actual goal
Ways to Stay Motivated
Review your goals regularly--seeing your progress is a notable motivator
Continue to set new goals after completing one--but make sure you are only tackling one at a time to keep you from being overwhelmed
Keep working hard--keeping with the routine will help you make it a habit
Find a mentor--someone who can support you
Surround yourself with positivity--this means positive people, self-talk, family, etc.
What Can You Do If You Lose Motivation
Setbacks are completely normal, but resilience can help you to keep moving forward and from almost exactly where you left off. Here are some tips:
Review the goal to make sure they are actually realistic or breaking down the goal even further could make the tasks easier to accomplish
Take moments to remember why you created and started the goal in the first place
Use motivation, positivity, and support by others--this will help you feel more inspired to complete tasks and eventually your goal
Sometimes it is good to take a break, then you can start fresh again
Everyone Can Be Motivated
You are more likely to be and stay motivated if you are working towards a goal that you genuinely want to achieve instead of what others want you to do. Find something that interesting you. Sometimes, others set goals for us that we simply do not find interesting or even want to do. And if you feel as if you can’t complete a goal or maybe you feel like you’ve failed, it is always beneficial to reach out to someone for help whether it’s a family member, friend, or counselor.
