We tend to think about what motivates us from day to day. What makes us want to take action? What is going to push us towards completing our goals? We also spend a lot of time with the challenging aspects from day to day. What demotivates us? What is preventing us from accomplishing our goals?
By taking a look at the challenges, we can identify and try to avoid them. As you read on, try to make a list of your own challenges that are holding you back.

1. Choices
When there are too many options, it can become so overwhelming that it prohibits us from doing anything. Just the thought of something else can be exhausting.
Solution: Narrow down the choices to just two or three. Try to ignore any external factors. And if you are stuck, ask a friend or family member for help.
2. Failure
Perfectionism is a real thing and being afraid of failing/doing something wrong can put a halt in the parade.
Solution: Being perfect all of the time just simply isn’t possible. Failing and trying our best is essential to the journey of reaching our goals.
3. Success
A low self-esteem can put a damper on success. This could cause the doubt that success is impossible and the lack of motivation to get things done.
Solution: Acknowledge both the small and large successes you have already achieved (practice this). Also build from past experiences to boost your confidence.
4. Clarity
We can become blindsided/demotivated when we do not know which step in the process comes next.
Solution: Take a step back and look at the picture in smaller pieces-strategies, tactics, objectives, etc. A few small adjustments may just be the thing we need.
5. Exhaustion
Sleep is essential in keeping a sound mind and body. It is difficult to remain motivated when we are tired.
Solution: Review your current sleep patterns and make adjustments as needed. Experiment with how much sleep you need to feel completely rested--the recommended 8 hours may be too much or too little.

6. Comparison
Focusing on the do’s and don'ts can measure up to us when completing a goal compared to others.
Solution: Forget that the grass may just be greener on the other side. Practice gratitude instead--focus on you, your talents, success, deams, desires, etc.
7. Excuses
Let’s be real. We all make excuses--negative messages we tell ourselves that prevent us from staying motivated.
Solution: Start being more aware of the excuses you make and challenge them (turn them into positives).
8. Routines
Routines, although helpful at times, can become very tedious and lead to a lack of motivation to follow them.
Solution: Bring fun into play by mixing in a few activities you’re not used to. By experimenting with the different parts of your routine, you can see which ones influence your motivation the most.

9. Patience
Most of the time we want instant results. And when things are happening as quickly as we want them to, we become discouraged.
Solution: Things take time. Give it the patience and you will see the results you want.
10. Distractions
When we become distracted, we lose focus and the motivation to do what is actually important.
Solution: Pay attention to those distractions for once and see how you may be able to minimize them over the course of the day. But keep in mind that you are human and will always have to face challenges before reaching success.
