1. Plan your Day

Planning your day can allow you to stay on track and focus on specific parts of your goal. Planning could be in hourly increments or simply just making a list of tasks you need to complete throughout the day. After seeing the benefits of planning for just the day, you can then move on to weekly planning. It will help you increase your productivity and get you the results you want. Although, you should also plan for “hiccups” throughout your day--life can hit outside of your planning.

Personally, I plan my weeks out to keep me focused and productive. Getting things checked off everyday really keeps me motivated and on track. I set up to do my assignments on certain days and times, so that I’m not working on them last minute.

2. Create a Routine

Having a routine is important to those who want to get the most out of the day. It could be as simple as setting a specific time to wake up, go to bed, eat, take a shower, do assignments or chores, etc.

I personally do not have a set routine, but I do attend the same classes at the same times weekly. This helps me keep focused and I know what is to come on those days. Although I do believe that if I did have set times to wake up I would feel much more healthy and productive during the day.

3. Find your Priorities

Knowing which tasks are the most important or which you should complete first is very beneficial. Getting the more difficult tasks done first makes the others feel easier in a sense. Not all days may have difficult tasks, but there will always be some that are more important to others.

When it comes to tasks for me, I like to do assignments that are due first whether they are easier or more difficult. If there is a larger project to do I will start those earlier in the week and continue to work on them over the days. The easier assignments I will normally get them done in one sitting.

4. Take Breaks

Take breaks throughout your day--maybe even plan them. When you are stuck on something, take five or ten minutes away to clear your mind. Anything that takes your mind off of the task at hand--such as a walk, exercise, a snack, meditation, etc--can help you figure out what you need to complete that task.

I like to take breaks a lot. Normally when I am stuck I will either sit on my phone or snack on something till an idea comes to mind. It doesn’t take too long for one to pop up.

5. Keep a Sound Mind and Body

It is important to make sure you have a healthy mind and body. This can be controlled through a healthy diet, exercise, staying hydrated, taking breaks, creating a daily routine, etc. Completing tasks and goals can be very occupying, so make sure that you still focus on keeping your mind and body healthy while doing so.

I personally like to take walks to get my exercise. I know it’s not extensive, but it keeps me active, healthy, and focused. I also take a vitamin every morning to ensure I am getting the nutrients my body needs.
